"Beach litter becomes the currency at Seaside Scavenge markets, that's what".

(1)  Participants go scavengenging for litter in surrounding beach and parklands. All pieces of litter are equally valued at Seaside Scavenge since every little piece doesn't belong there!

 

(2) Litter is sorted into recyclable and non-recyclable. Every 10 pieces of litter earns the Scavenger a token.This token is the currency used to 'buy' funky second hand clothes and goods. 

 

(3) The markets are filled with anything from clothing to jewellery to books to homewares. It all depends on the generosity of locals who donate their pre-loved 'stuff' the lead-up to the event.  Then we price each donated item in either 1, 2 or 3 tokens.
