Coogee Trash Trade
28th February 2016
We had a hugely succesful day with the help of Responsible Runners and More Tunes Less Trash crews! Over 5 hours with roughly 100 hands on deck we collected 7781 cigarette butts, 297 plastic lids, 557 plastic bottles, 118 glass bottles and 1364 metal bottle caps along with thousands of little pieces plastic, styrofoam, foil and paper - totalling 135kg!! HUUGE thanks to the Coogee Pavilion for donating beer, wine and spirits tokens that could be traded for litter, as well as Touch Up Salon, Pro Dive Coogee, Little Jack Horner, Sangs Thai Massge who all donated wicked prizes to get people picking up! We couldn't have attracted all those people without the beautiful beats from Ainsley Farrell and The Kingfishers Wife, and last but definitely not leas the inspiring plastic-free talk by The Rogue Ginger.

Ainsley Farrell is a talented singer, song-writer hailing all the way from Oregon. She's got one of those voices that gets under your skin, works it's way to your heart and makes you feel every single word. She accompanies her soul-filled sound with some impressive skills on the guitar. Her incredible energy is definitely something you want to experience. Here's a beautiful song that'll give you a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrilFA1QyxE

Kingfishers Wife is one special species made up of Mich Havlioka on her ukulele! With just 4 strings she's got the skills to impress, every strum and tinker creates a beautiful backdrop for her melodius voice to roll over. Big sounds from a seemingly small set-up, Mich brings a laid-back air of delight to whichever hill or stage she sets herself upon.
